Amazigh Cuisine

Marrakech (AWN) | Morocco ranked second in the world in the Best Travel Destinations for Food Lovers according to a ranking by the Worldsim travel blog released on March 6.

“Morocco is the place to go for the best Amazigh cuisine on the planet” writes the Worldsim Travel blog

“That means fragrant tagine pots served in the midst of ancient medina towns, herbal teas to boot, and some of North Africa’s freshest fish” the source added.

Most famous dishes in the Amazigh cuisine are:

Couscous or Seksu ⵙⵉⴽⵙⵓ is a popular Amazigh North African dish made of semolina, traditionally served with meat and vegetables stew spooned on top. The name is derived from the Amazigh word “seksu” which means in Tamazight language Well Done rolled out

Tagine is a Amazigh dish from North Africa that is named after the special earthenware pot in which it is cooked. Similar to a stew it contains meat and vegetables, spices and seasonings that are slow cooked together in a “broth” that caramelizes. This savory dish is often served with little vegetable side salads and fresh traditionally baked bread
